Check for viruses

I don't know what you will think is dumber, uninstalling my McAfee
anti-virus software or paying $50 for it in the first place. After
installing it, I couldn't stand the constant pop-ups and trying to figure
out what was important information and what was nothing but junk advertising
so I took it off.

Now I am wondering if there is anyway I can check to see if I have any
viruses without re-installing that irritating McAfee software. I'm running
Windows XP home version.

As always, thank you, I appreciate your help.

Hello,

You can for example use an online scan. Panda Software have one:

But i really recommend you to have AV-software installed. Many software
companies offer a trial period you can use, to try it out and see if it
works as you expect it to work. I have had good experience with Symantec and
their AV products. Maybe you want to try one of those?
