This may be an easy question, but i can't seem to find any solid info on
google about it. Does anyone know how i can check to see which
browser/program is being used for the default browser?
I can check the HKCR\htmlfile\shell\command to see what program it's
calling but i'm not sure if that's the correct way to go. I appreciate any
information anyone can provide. Thank you very much in advance.

Run "Set Program Access and Defaults" will give you this information and
allow you to change it. It should be on your Start Menu, if you not, you
can re-enable it by right clicking in the start menu, choosing properties
and activating it on the Advanced Tab.
