Characters Replaced By Black Sqaure.

Usually when I right click in the Task Bar to unlock it, the option LOCK
TASKBAR would have a tick next to it. In the same menu, TOOLBARS have an
arrow which if you click on it, will display the available toolbars.

At no particular interval I see a small black sqare instead of the tick or
arrow.

Another place this occurs is the Extensible Counter List.
The Performance Counter Enabled check box for each counter is black, whereas
it should either be a tick or a clear white (not ticked/checked).

The black sqaure resets at the next boot, but I am trying to find out what
causes this to occur in the first place.

Thank you for your reply - much appreciated.

I followed your instructions and the width glider was already at the far left.
I moved it to the right and then back but not all the way.

How would this effect the display on the Extensible Counter List?
The cursor doesn't really show in that application - you highlight a counter
and then go to the bottom of the screen and click on "Performance Counters
Enabled" which in turn checks or unchecks the box on the left

I'll update this posting again if the problem occurs again - all OK at the
moment.

Thanks again for your reply
