Character limitations on receiver field

We are developing an application that will take addresses from a database and
send emails. If we keep it contained within the application we have no
problem dealing with the volume. The client would like to see if we can
interface the addresses to Outlook 2003 and they will send the emails
manually. I understand there is a limit on the number of characters that can
be place in the receivers field in Outlook. Using XP service pack 2 and the
the current version of Outlook, can you tell me what is the limitation?

How did you come to this "understanding"? If there is a limit, it's more
likely a limit on how many characters the field will hold (probably in the
neigthborhood of 32K or 64K characters) that in the number of addresses it
will hold.

The developer working on the project informed me that she thought from
previous work and versions of Outlook that the limitation existed. If she's
wrong and limitation exists great, problem solved.

Again, my understanding was the number of characters in the field, not the
number of addresses.
