changng color profiles

I seem to be unable to change the color profiles for my monitor. I mean that
I go through the motions - Go to display properties ...to color management...
associate profiles ... set a profile as default... Apply changes and nothing
happens.
I even reboot - still no change. I have a Dell XPS 3Ghz, ATI Radeon 9800 XT,
Dell 1703FP monitor and Win XP pro. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Dave,

I seem to have a similar problem with XP. Generated a new ICC color profile
using the Pantone Spyder. I can select this profile, but when I press
'apply' or 'Set Default', I get the message 'Not a valid color profile'. Oke,
can be that something's wrong with this profile. Then it appears that all
profiles in the default location in Windows are not valid. At that point I
start to think this is a Windows problem. Did you solve your problem?

I didn't find a solution. Most of what I do doesn't really need color
correction. I'm sure that I'll be looking at the problem again next time I
need to edit and print more photos. I'll keep you posted of any developments.
