Changing Workgroup Name

Guest

I've just installed a Motorola Surfboard SB 5120 cable modem and a Netgear
WGR 614 V 6 wireless router. My existing network is one Win-XP and one Win-ME
connected through the Ethernet ports on the router. I have the wireless
access setup but not activated. My computers are named "Family Room" and
"Office"; my workgroup is "MS Home".

My question is can I change the workgroup name on both computers from MS
Home to ***** from within the "System Properties/Computer Name" page
without affecting the network connections? (Will everything continue to work
OK or will I have to redo the network connections?

Thanks,
Milt

Milt,

If you change the workgroup name on both computers, don't change both computers
simultaneously, and don't reboot, you'll have a small problem while the browser
infrastructure adjusts to the change. You might end up with a segmented
workgroup, so it would be best to plan on rebooting. For more information, read
