Changing windows XP format?

I heard theres a way with windows 98 or 95 to change windows into windows 3.1
by going into win.ini or something like that. It changes the desktop to the
old program manager setup. Is it possible to do that to XP? I preffer that
setup more then the current one.

No.

The only alteration is known as "Windows Classic"
Right click on the Desktop.
Choose; "Themes"
Choose; "Windows Classic"

Then...

Right click on the TaskBar
Choose; "Properties"
Choose "Start Menu"
Select; "Classic Start menu"

XP still (for reasons obscure to me) includes a copy of the old
progman.exe, in Windows\system32 and you can load it from Start - Run
and try using it. I wouldn't but it is up to you. If it proved
adequate it would be possible to set it up in the registry as the Shell,
at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT
\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

rather than using explorer.exe (it would also have to be copied into
the Windows folder first, and have at least basic groups set up). I
certainly would not, but it could be done.
