David Hodgson

Hi folks,

how do I change the location of where the user profile is created? I
don't want it in c:\documents and setting, I want it in something like
f:\userprofile. I will not be using roaming profiles.

thanks a bunch

help

Hi dude!
The only solution that comes into my mind is that you create a shared
folder USERPROFILE$ on every computer F drive and set the security
options FULL CONTROL for the workstation users, then you go to the
User properties in Active Directory Users and Computers, select the
Profile tab and set the Profile path to \\WORKSTATIONNAME\USERPROFILE
$. Then you hit the Account tab and set "Log on to" and add
WORKSTATIONNAME to the list.

this way you will accomplish both requirements:
1- users profiles are created in their WORKSTATIONNAME F drive (it
will be hidden, therefore a little more secure, don't forget to
tighten the shared folders security)
2- you don't have "roaming" as you're forcing the user to log in to
his/her workstation.

Please, advise if this is close to what you require...again, this is a
little cumbersome and will become a burdensome task as your
organization grows.

Hope this helps!
Regards,
