Changing The Firewall Settings

In the Local Area Connection Properties, advanced settings tab, When I try to
add an IP address (e.g. 123.1.1.1) of the computer hosting the service it
always reverts to the system name of my computer, so I cannot add the IP
address.

How do I rectify this predicament?

You're adding the IP to YOUR network, that's why. If the IP is on
another network, click the Exceptions tab.
Now click the Program or Service name, then click the Edit button
Click the Change scope button and add the IP address after putting a
mark next to Custom list
Then click OK

Is that what you're attempting to do ?

Nothing. He's just " yo-yoing "
I should ask how to repair a hole in dry wall while the subject is
drifting, shouldn't I ;)
