Changing the default file path from absolute to relative

When I drag a file from the folder list into my website, it write an absolute
path. If I am online, this is not a problem, but when I am off line, then
ftp my project to the server, my paths links do not work. I know there must
be a setting in FrontPage to change the way the paths are caluculated.
Thanks for your help.

Import the file into your current open FP Web / Site, then create you link to it, and when you save
the page, FP will convert the link to relative.

Always use Open Site to open the folder that contains the start of your site.
Conversely, don't use File Open to open individual files from your disk.

Then, always drag files from Windows Explorer and drop them into the
FrontPage folder list, and then drag them from the FrontPage folder list and
drop them onto your Web page.

Hi, can I join in the discussion?

I'm working on a site for a local small business client, and we're
experiencing some major headaches late in the process. We used relative
links throughout, as the literature advises.

Recently, we had to revert to a copy of the Web, and due to the copying, our
relative paths became absolute paths to our local drive (C://My
Documents/etc.). We tried to correct this problem using the 'Reports' view
and editing these absolute links.

After fixing and testing, we discovered that our links had indeed changed,
and were looking in the correct local folder, but were still absolute when
published to the remote site.

Did we do something wrong in the editing/fixing process? Do we need to fix
all of our links manually? We have discovered that when we correct a link
manually to be relative, it works. Obviously, this requires more time, but
it can be done. But of course, we're lazy! We'd like to be able to correct
multiple links across pages and make them relative. Is there a way?

Response appreciated.

1. Make sure you have a web / site open in FP

2. You would need to search and replace by location of the link within the web structure and by
first manual correcting a link so you what to search and replace in HTML / Code View.
