Changing the default chart

Is there a way to change the default chart that appears when you insert a new
chart in PowerPoint 2003?
 
When you insert the chart, change to the desired chart by right clicking to
get the context menu, select chart type, select your chart type and then
click "set a default chart"

What John said, plus, be sure to uncheck autoscale on all of your chart fonts
before setting it as the default.
