Hi, Can someone tell me how to go about changing the size of the icons in the
taskbar in Windows XP ? I can see no way to do it.
Thanks
Catt

Quick Launch icon sizes
Right click the Taskbar | Select Lock the taskbar to unlock it | Right click
an empty area of the Quick Launch area and select View | Select a size

View will not appear in the menu if the Taskbar is locked.

taskbaricons.vbs sets MinWidth to -285 here...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics
Value Name: MinWidth
Data Type: REG_SZ
Value Data: Number of pixels
MinWidth specifies the width, in pixels, of a minimized window.

* Values entered in twips (minus values) are rounded to the nearest pixel
value. For instance, -17 converts to 1 pixel, and -28 converts to 2 pixels.
* The registry also accepts values in pixels (0 to 50); however, any values
entered in Control Panel will be converted to twips in the registry.

"Sizes here, having a minus sign before them, are in twips. A twip is
1/1440th of an inch, 1/567th of a centimeter and 1/20th of a point. As it's
an absolute measurement, it can't be converted exactly to pixels."

Thanks to all but Wes if I "click in an empty area of the Quick Launch area"
there is not "View" to select a size. I tried it both ways, with the taskbar
checked off and unchecked. Thought?

Thought?

Your probably not holding your mouth right. LOL

If the Taskbar is unlocked you get this context menu by right clicking a
blank spot in Quick Launch.

----------------
View >
Open Folder
Show Text
Show Title
Close Toolbar
---------
Toolbars >
---------
Cascade Windows
Tile Windows Horizontally
Tile Windows Vertically
Show the Desktop
---------
Task Manager
---------
Lock the Taskbar
Properties
----------------

If the Taskbar is locked you get this context menu by right clicking a blank
spot in Quick Launch.

----------------
Open Folder
---------
Toolbars
---------
Cascade Windows
Tile Windows Horizontally
Tile Windows Vertically
Show the Desktop
---------
Task Manager
---------
Lock the Taskbar
Properties
----------------

If you miss a blank spot altogether and right click on an icon in Quick
Launch you get this context menu.

----------------
Open
Run As
Scan With AVG (my AV software)
WinZip > (my zip software)
---------
SendTo >
---------
Cut
Copy
---------
Create Shortcut
Delete
Rename
---------
Properties
----------------

The Show Desktop icon context menu does not have Run As.

----------------
View > Has Large Icons and Small Icons.
Open Folder Opens the %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
folder.
Show Text Shows Text and the icon.
Show Title Shows Quick Launch as a title. Probably belongs with Click here
to begin.
Close Toolbar Gets rid of the Quick Launch toolbar.

Hi, when I do hold my mouth right I get everything but "View"
When I right click it starts out with "Toolbars>" but no "View"
If I unlock the taskbar I get the same thing. I don't get "Open Folder" as
you do.
So obviously something is missing.
Would you have any futher thoughts on the matter?
Thank you
Catt

Beats the heck out of me. The only time I ever use Quick Launch is when
researching something for a post, otherwise I have it turned off. I thought
it might have been a policy, but I cannot find anything.

I did find this though.

Carefully click an empty area of the Quick Launch area and choose "View" -
"Large Icons". If this menu does not appear, click on the separator groove
directly to the left of the "Quick Launch" area.
