Changing standby mode

I am relatively new to Windows XP Professional, which I have at home. When I
leave the computer, the screen goes dark after about five minutes and appears
to go into a standby mode after about 10 minutes. The problem I have is that
when I'm transfering a video that I have on my computer to VHS which takes
about 30 minutes, the computer goes into this standby mode and stops the
transfer. How can I change those settings. I've gone into Power Options and
changed those settings to 45 minutes, but it doesn't seem to make any
difference. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
