Changing size of inserted images

Hi all

We have a number of Word Docs with inserted images. When the images were inserted, they were simply scaled down from very large pictures instead of being reduced prior to being inserted. Now we have a collection of files that are much bigger than they need to be

Is there a way to reduce the image size within Word? I poked around in the manual but didn't find anything about being able to reduce either the image resolution or reduce the actual size of an image

Thank

Toney

Hi Toney

Im no expert in word but im sure once you insert the
picture into word just single left click on it the go to
the corner of the image untill you get the arrow appear
than hold down the left mouse button and drag it out to
the size you want.

Hope that helps

Well that's how the images were originally inserted. The images were originally something like 6"X9" and were scaled down to 1.1"x1.5" in Word. The problem is the images keep their original file size and we ended up with Word docs that are 2-5 times bigger (in terms of file size) than they need be. This eats up a lot of space on the server

So I'm wondering if there's a way to permanently reduce the size of the image within Word. Not just scale it down but make the image 1.1"x1.5". Or do we have to export the image, resize it with another piece of software and then re-insert it

I think you will have to find the orginal file and
resize it in paint or any other graphical application
then re-insert it into your word document.
Bit curious about your server if word documents even with
big pictures are taking up alot of room?

jpeg, then Word provides no facility for compressing the graphic information.
