Word document size remains same on image deletion

I have a word document consisting of some text and few images inserted from
files. In case one image is deleted from word document, document is saved,
closed. The word document file size is still same. Ideally the word doc file
size should be reduced by the images file size because that part is no more
with it.

This is caused by the fact that word uses fast save, which does not
necessarily reduce file size. You can try to deactivate it from the options
panel, or use Save As. This will certainly reduce file size.
