changing screen resolution

Asif

Hi,

I had to recently re-install Windows XP for security
reasons. After installing all programs and applications
I tried to change my resolution from 480x680 to my
previous setting of 1024x1280. When I go under advanced
settings (Display window) and then to my monitor display,
the "Properties" button is grayed out. Any answers as to
why it is and how to fix it, seems as though i need to
install a new driver, but cant since it is grayed out.

You can change the driver through Device Manager,
right click on "my computer"
click properties from the menu
in the pop up window select hardware
select the device manager button and a window appears
expand the display devices, right click and uninstall it.
u will be prompted to restart the computer
when the computer restarts it will detect and install the drivers provided the hardware is compatible with xp.
if not u can insert the driver CD for the display adapter and then follow instructions to install the drivers.
after reboot ur system should be able to change resolutions.
