To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can
use Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, some read it only
during installation, and some don't read it al all.

Hi Peter,

When you navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion does
RegisteredOwner not appear in the right-hand pane?

Regards,

By the way, excuse me butting in on the thread, but I try to read as many as
possible to learn whatever!
No there is no registered owner showing in there. I even went in to safe
mode as administrator and nothing there either. Would it have something to
do with this installation of XP SP2 is from my slipstreamed CD? Although I
doubt that is the case. When I reinstalled the other day, I went through
all the usual steps, naming the PC, entering user names, and registering
with MS.

BIG APOLOGY.... I was looking for a sub heading underneath current version
"Registered Owner".....if I click on "Current Version"....yes it's
there!!!!! DUH ;-)

LOL!! No problem, Peter. I'm glad that you were able to locate it.

Cookies use the name of the currently logged on user account, not the
