Changing Navigation Bar Properties

I have an older version of FrontPage (v 3.0.2.926). I am designing a website.
I noticed that when I try to change the Navigation Bar Properties for the
buttons on one page of the website, FrontPage changes the properties on all
the pages simultaneously. The problem is that I want certain pages buttons to
link to certain pages, and others to others. Does this make sense? In other
words, I want to be able to have some pages link to the parent level, and
others to link to the same level, and some to the child level. But if I set
Nav Bar Properties to Same Level, it sets all pages in the site to that same
setting. If I change one page to child level, it changes all of the pages to
child level. Is there any way I can customize a page to say, link to the
child level, without having all pages do the same?

Please don't say "Yes. Upgrade your software to a newer version. We fixed
that problem in the next version."

I'm hoping there is just something I'm missing in the help section.

Thanks

Your site is using Shared Borders, any content in the Shared Border will appear on all pages using
the specific Shared Border. Sorry but you have more flexibility in FP2002 and FP2003 to do what you
want.

If you don't want to upgrade, then create your buttons and navigation structure manually, and use FP
Include Page component to insert specific navigation buttons on the pages as needed

In addition to what Thomas says..

You can sorta get around the limitation of Shared Borders with Navs in them by creating a second set of navs (set to child, parent..whatever)...HOWEVER...guaranteed...shared borders with navs in them... will drive you nuts if your site gets complex.

an example on one of my sites: http://www.balletandfriends.org

I've used two sets of navs to overcome the level issue, but they are getting out of hand and I will abandon this navigation when I have some time to redo them.
