Changing my Cursor pointer?

When trying to select a black Cursor for my XP home, I kept getting "The
C:\windows\cursors\arrow_r.cur file, which contains the "Normal Select"
cursor, is either missing or corrupt." How do reconfigure these options?

When you run MSCONFIG.exe you will see an 'Expand File" button. Point at the
old file, then browse to the setup files, usually on a CD in an /i396 folder.
The new file you want will be in some *.CAB file, with a compressed filename
of "arrow_r.cu_"

Which "old file"? And how do I "browse to the setup files, usually on a CD in
an /i396[i386] folder."

You will probably be able to find a local expert that can do that for you.
Tne technical details of file management might be more than you prefer to
deal with.
Another approach is to run a Repair setup of XP.

I like to deal with file management all I need is step by step directions. I
have the DELL reinstallation CD for XP Home, but I also have a retail version
CD of XP Home. I used the retail CD first but I couldn't where to expand the
replacement file from. I got down to the i386 folder on the CD, but I
could't figure where to go from there. And the DELL Reinstallation CD didn't
help at all, because I could even find any folder list!
