Changing internal border width of taskbar buttons

Is there a way to change the internal border of the taskbar buttons?
I have a vertical taskbar on the left side of my screen. This means
the taskbar buttons are aligned vertically. The buttons have a large
margin on the inside between the text and the border of the button.
This causes fewer buttons to be able to be displayed in one column. I
would like to set the internal buffer to be 0 or something much
smaller.

The taskbar buttons are currently like this:

+---------------
|
| * Google search ...
|
+---------------

But I want them to be like this:

+----------------
|* Google search ...
+----------------

I recently moved from W2K, and the buttons had a much smaller internal
margin. XP buttons are much taller, so I get fewer buttons displayed
in a single column.

Try using the "Windows Classic" theme. It looks just like Windows 2000. :)
