changing icons on the desktop to other choices

How do I go about changing the short cut icons on my
desktop. They all have the Big blue "E", and if possible,
I prefer to change them if there are other choices.

If the icons are shortcuts, then you can right click on them, click
'Properties', goto the 'Shortcut' tab and click the button labeled 'Change
Icon..' to select the icon of your choice.
