Changing from ACPI Multiprocessor PC to ACPI Uniprocessor PC

Rattana

After installing XP on a Mutiprocessor system, and have
removed 1 of the CPU and would like to change the Computer
listing under Dev Man from ACPI Multiproccessor PC to ACPI
Uniprocessor PC, there is no listing for ACPI Uniprocessor
PC under update driver.

Apprently, If I installed XP on a Uniprocessor system, and
upgrade to 2 CPU, I can update the driver from ACPI
Uniprocessor PC to ACPI Multiprocessor PC and vise a versa
(via roll back a driver).

Anyone? Help... Please.

That is strange. When I try and manually update the driver for my Computer
heading, it lists all the possible choices for me. I can go from ACPI Uni. to
ACPI Multi. or back to Standard, etc.

You might try and search MSKB to see if they have a listing for changing the
HAL. It seems like I remember seeing something about how to manually change the
HAL by going into Recovery Console and manually copying the HAL you want over to
the %WinDir%\system32 folder and renaming it in the process to hal.dll

LOL
