changing file extensions

Hi
How do I change a file's extension? For example, a .vcr to.wma or.mpeg. I am trying to burn a home video onto a cd-rw so i can view it using my dvd player, using Nero but Nero does not support the.vcr file. Thanks very much for any suggestions

Use the ATI MMC Library program to convert .vcr to .mpg.
