How do you change the extension of a file?

I can only see the first part of the file's name when I open its properties
(using right click) and I want to change its extension from one thing to
another (I have my reasons).

How do you do this?

Cheers.

In Windows Explorer or My Computer, go to Tools | Folder Options, and go to
the View tab. Uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types." The
extensions will then be visible to change.

.... and when you do change one Explorer will probably whinge about it
and ask if you really want to do it at which point you will have to
confirm the change.
