Changing drive name

Is there a way to change the name of drives associated with multiple card
readers? Can I change Removable Disk (G to something like CompactFlash
(G? I can go into My Computer>Manage and change the names but they don't
"hold" when I try to view them in Explorer. The card reader is a SanDisk
ImageMage 12 in 1 that is connected to a USB hub. Running XP Home-SP2.

When I insert a card, Removable Disk changes to the name given to the card
when it was formatted.
Does yours do this?
