CHANGING DRIVE LETTERS

I recently had XP Pro installed on my computer. The drive assignments
somehow changed and I would like to put them back (i.e. Main Hard drive - C,
Backup HD - D, CD-ROM - E, and CD Burner - F). I am told that this can be
accomplished in the Disk Management utility but I can locate it. Can someone
please help. Thank you.

In Windows Explorer, right-click MY COMPUTER|MANAGE|DISK MANAGEMENT (at
the left). There are limitations. See the HELP file.

You can't change the system disk letter with Disk
Management. Other disks you can change. If you want to
get your system disk back to C, as far as I know, the
only way is to pull the stuff that got assigned lower and
do a fresh install. Then reattach the other drives.

Bad Idea.

Use higher drive letters for the CD ROM and CD Burner. If you latter use
devices like external drives or camera/mp3 player memory cards they will
take over the letters following your hard drives and make the drive
letters for the optical drives shift around. One of my neighbors uses R
for his read only drive and W for the burner (Writer).

Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management, select Disk
Management and look lower right for the graphic of the drive.

You can r-click any hard drive partition except the one where the system
is (normally C:) or a CD/DVD drive and Change Drive letter
