Changing drive letter without Disk Management Console?

Fiddling around with nLite and XPLite my nephew came up with a very small
Windows XP Pro installation for an older laptop and it runs surprisingly
fast and well.

Except there is no Disk Management in the MMC tree under Storage.

This does not affect working at all but can one change the drive letter of
the optical drive without this MMC snap-in?

Or is there a way to reinstall this snap-in and get it working? We did try
copying the diskmgmt.msc executable from another PC but it said the snap-in
could not be started. Needless to say, the Logical Disk Manager entries do
not show in services.

Regards and TIA.

Yes, you can use the Diskpart or Mountvol commands at the command prompt
or you can change it at the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices key.
