changing default location of Documents and Settings to "D:" drive

Is there a way I can modify the install files so that "Documents and
Settings" is placed on my D drive?

I perform the same steps for all installs I do.
#1 Fresh install.
#2 then do search and replace in registry and change all reference to
C:\documents and settings, %systemroot%\doduments and settings and
c:\docum~ so D:\documents and settings. Then reboot, then repeat. It
is quite a pain in the butt.
#3 I also do the same thing with the TMP and TEMP folders, and change
the appropriate environment variable.
#4 I also change the location of my page file to my D: drive too.
#5 do windows updates.

I am in the process of slipstreaming servic pack 2. And I have a
feeling that there is probably a way to do the above steps, all automated.

ANyone know of an answer or a pointer to some good resources? I
couldn't find anything on web on moving D&S during install, but perhaps
I wasn't using correct terminology during my search?

Thanks in advance,

~S

Hi johan
what do you mean when you say you can "use the ProfilesDir parameter to
specify the profiles location when using scripted installs" ?
I've been trying to do the same thing as well as with teh desktop folder and
haven't had any success?

thanks

Chris

well actually johan,
I haven't been trying to do the same thing. I have my windows installation
on another partition, and I want to make it so that my default desktop as
well as other directories are on my other partition? However, i do plan to
reinstall windows soon, would the only way of doing this be a scripted
install?
I mean i found some registry keys in like:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \
explorer \ Shell Icons "

I don't know, is there something in there that i might be able to change?

Thanks.

Chris.
