Changing Default Homepage Doesn't "Stick"`

L

Larry Bohen

For about one week, setting the default homepage (in IE Tools --> Internet
Options) to other than www.msn.com doesn't "stick." When I change the
default page, the next time I open IE, the default homepage reverts back to
www.msn.com. In addition I now get popup ads.

I use Ad-Aware 6 every day followed by SpyBot to clean out any spyware. I
also have Ad-Watch running in the background. My IE version is
6.0.2800.1106.....

Advice?

Larry,
Go to: http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates: "hijackthis.log")

Next, go to the below location:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the "Spyware and Hijackware Removal" section.
Press "New Topic", copy and paste hijackthis.log into your new message.
