I want to change my default font from Times Roman to Tahoma 12,is this safe
to do.When I go to change it,I am told it will affect all new documents based
on the Normal Template.
Also if I change it now while doing a project can I change it back?
This won't mess up computer will it?
Thanks for any & all help

Yes, it's safe. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CustomizeNormalTemplate.htm
for some more information about changing defaults.

You can change the defaults as often as you like.

Notice that the change will affect all *new* documents -- that is, it
won't affect any existing documents. If you change the default to
Tahoma, use it for a project, and then change the default back to
Times New Roman, then the documents that are already Tahoma will stay
in Tahoma. But new documents that you create after changing back will
be in Times.

Note also that you can modify Normal for a specific document without
affecting Normal.dot; just don't check the "Add to template" box in the
Modify Style dialog.
