changing computername

We are packaging and pushing out apps to our workstations through our AD
domain. Does any one know of a way to change a computer's name, without AD
removing and reinstalling the managed apps? I realize each object mainatains
it's own SID, just hoping there is a way to do this.

You should be able to go to each client and simply change the computer name.
I would think that there would be a way to script this so that you do not
have to physically touch each client. This should not have any adverse
effects.
