I have a document set up in column format which I want to change to table
format. Other than cutting and pasting I don't see a way to change the
columns to tables. Any ideas?
Thanks

If the columns were created with tabs, you can use Table | Convert | Text to
Table. If they are newspaper-style (snaking) columns, C&P is probably the
only way.

There's Table -> Convert Text to Table but that's not really what you
want.

The problem is that tables are a "flow" concept and tables are a
"tabular" concept. Conceptually speaking, there's no way for Word to
know how much of a flowing column you would want in a table unless you
manually divide the text.

I've had mixed results with it but it might do the trick
