I have worn myself out looking for a solution!
I have been trying to restore some word files that I backed up on a CD. They
are shown as read-only, and I want to "uncheck" that box so I can restore
them to HD, and work with them.
Any ideas?

Just copy them to your hard drive, open them and work with them.

You cannot change the attributes to the files in CD. Copy them to HD and change the attributes.

Hi,

You can't change the attributes on the CD, but there is no reason you can't
copy them to hard drive and then remove that attribute.

Can't you just copy the files back over to your hard drive then change there
read only status?
