Changing Attributes of REF Field

Jose

I use a bookmark to contain the addressee on a letter, and REF fields
to repeat the person's name in the following page headers and above
the address on the envelope. How can I change the attributes of the
way the data appears in the REF field? For example, can I type the
name in 12pt. and have it appear in the header in 10pt., then back
again in the envelope in 12pt?

Jose,

Use the CHARFORMAT switch in your REF Field

\*Charformat
Applies the formatting of the first letter of the field type to the entire
result. The result of the following example has bold formatting because the
"R" in "REF" is bold.

{ REF chapter2_title \* Charformat } displays "Whales of the Pacific".

Note To add this switch, type it in the field code or in the Field codes
box in the Field dialog box (Insert menu, Field command).

In your case, format the "R" in REF as 10 point.

Use a CHARFORMAT switch.

{ Ref "myBookmark" \* CHARFORMAT }

This replaces the MERGEFORMAT switch if you have one.

The CharFormat switch picks up on the character formatting of the first
non-blank character in the field and applies it to the field result.
