Changing a tag on the GINA

I do NOT want to change my GINA but when I am using an x.509 signing cert for
authentication to my domain controller there is a conflict with the
terminology used to prompt my users.

When a user inserts their smartcard, upon start up, they are prompted to
enter their "PIN:" I need this to say something else like "Code Word," or
"Password" because a PIN in my organization is something completely separate.
Does this require a hard change to the GINA or can I alter a .dll or
something somewhere to make this possible so that I will still be able to use
all MS Updates and Security Patches?

Caveat: I haven't looked at the code lately but...

I believe you would have to alter the GINA to do that
precisely and you are right you don't want to do that for
such a small change/reason.

Ideas: If you can find the DIALOG resource in one of the
files you might alter just that, but it will be just about as
big a mess as altering the GINA in general (you will have
to distribute it and have it overwritten on upgrades.)

You might consider trying a LEGAL NOTICE or LEGAL
CAPTION to just explain the terminology.

A GPO could do that easily and there is no rule that says
the "LEGAL" thingies have to be related to Legal Issues.
