Changing a background on single slide without changing every slide

I am making a slide show for class and I want every slide to have a different
background. Everytime I go to the next slide it automatically has the same
background as the slide before. When I go to change it it changes the first
slide also. What do I do!

if you are using powerpoint 2007, follow this steps :

1. On the top Powerpoint Menu > Click View > Slide Master
2. On Slide Master Tab, Click Background Styles > Format Background
3. On fill details > Tick the option "Picture or Texture Fill" > Select
Which Slide You Want to Apply The Background (By Click on the slide directly
through your left panel) & Dont Click Apply This To All option.

Right click an empty area of the slide > Format background
choose the background needed and also tick "Hide Background Graphics"
DONT click Apply to All
