Changes to IE not saved after re-boot

Any changes I make are not saved after the computer re-boots. For example, in IE6, I modify my toolbar so my links appear. After I reboot system, IE6 revets back to the previous view and I have to modify again. I did see a fix if I have a HP computer. I have a Dell
Any help would be appreciated
