changes to format

I have a document which format changes when opened on a different computer
(same software). This is really annoying.

Can anything be done about this?

Hi Julias,

What version of Word?
Can you be more specific on what is changing?

Word is text reflow software, not page layout software
and choices such as the printer driver and font availability
and view selected (by the person opening the document, not
the author) can affect how things appear.

Hello Bob
Word 2003. There is a table in the doc where I have hidden the lines but
when opened on another computer these lines show up (albeit in feint & not
printing).

Also, some text has moved along to the next line on the page, which means
that another user has to move it back up before they can use it. This is a
pain because the actual doc is a master fax document. (I have tried using
word templates but these are a pain to re-format how I want).

Perhaps I'm just being too fussy!

Hi Julia,

The gridline toggle in the Table menu is up to
the reader of the document. If you're using a
white background on your document you can set
the borders of all of the cells to white to 'hide'
the gridlines.

The printer selected by each person can affect what
stays on the page in Print layout view. If you're
too 'precise' in formatting near the edge of the
page (some inkjet printers don't allow printing
below about 0.7" at the bottom, based on how they
'grip' the paper, for example) things can 'fall off'
the edge.
