Changed MSCONFIG to start in safe mode, PC hangs now

Hello,

I wanted to start my computer in safe mode to remove some
spyware installed on it. So I did Start->Run->msconfig and
checked the "Safe Mode" box. Now when I restart my
computer, it hangs at the login window. I am unable to
start it in normal mode now. Even if I hit the F8 key
during startup and select normal mode, it still goes ahead
into safe mode. Then it again hangs at the login window.

How do I reverse this back? Does my computer really hang
or is it the keyboard that is stuck? Coz if I leave my
computer on for some time, I can see the screen save come
on.

I had a boot CD and I used it to boot and go to DOS
console. I see the "/safeboot" flag in boot.ini file, but
there is no editor installed which I can use to edit the
boot.ini file.

Please help!! How do I gain control of my computer back?

Thanks a lot in advance and appreciate your help.

Boot Safe Mode again, run MSCONFIG again and deselect /Safeboot in the
BOOT.INI page. Or you can boot into Safe Mode and manually edit out the
/safeboot from boot.ini using notepad.

Get into Safe Mode in that way, then run MSConfig again and uncheck the
/SAFEBOOT box. that is not a one-off matter, it will continue on a Safe
Mode boot until you reverse it. Exit - on reboot there will be a
message about 'System Configuration'. Check the 'Do not show again' box
and exit
