Change workgroup

Coolsie

We have several Windows 2000 Pro computers where we can't
seem to change the workgroup settings.

In My Computer>properties>networkidentification the
network ID option is greyed out.
We can change the computer name but the Workgroup setting
is also grayed out.

We don't have a domain controller/group policy.

Ok , so dont use the network ID to setup your workgroup.
Go to the same place

My Computer>properties>networkidentification and use the
properties button on that screen. You will have a radio
button that tells your computer that your either part of a
domain or part of a workgroup and you can fill in the name
for your domain/workgroup. Reboot and your set.

You could run netdiag on one looking for failed tests that may help pinpoint
problem. I believe you need file and print sharing enabled/ bound and the
server service running. -- Steve

Thanks
