Workgroup Computers not shown

I clicked on Start -> Network Places ->View Workgroup Computers
The only computer shown was the one I am using. There are three other
computers connected to the same gateway device. We do not have a Domain;
they belong to the same workgroup; one runs Vista the others XP.

What settings in Windows should I check to determine if Windows is
configured properly to allow these computers to communicate with each otrher?
