I wasn't actually asking for changing the user a/c image but to change the
"Windows XP" logo. at the logon screen

Yes there is a way you can change the login screen (welcome screen) but as I
recollect MS does not want you to that because of copyright issues.
There are sites which make those welcome screens where you can download them
for free. I won't give any links but I suggest googling "change welcome
screen". You will find enough sites which can help you on your way.
