Create a new user.
Use that new user.
Erase the old one once you have gone in and copied your data from the old
user's desktop/favorites/etc..

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP,
you can use Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, while others read
it only during installation.

The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username)
_cannot_ be renamed, even if the associated user account has been.
So, your best course of action would be to log on using the built-in
Administrator account, create a new user account, with the username
desired. You can then delete the old user account(s).

Click on Start.... Run.... type in regedit...click on OK. This brings up
the Registry Editor. To be safe, click on File... Export...this brings up
the export registry window. You might save it on your desktop and name it
with today's date. Now, if things go wrong you will be able to return to
the saved Registry.

Now click on Edit... Find..(or use Ctrl-F) Enter Linda as the search item.
Now click on Find Next. It will locate the first available entry of Linda.
Change it to your name. Now use the F3 key to move to the next entry of
Linda. Change it to your name. Continue in that manner.

Exit and save the changes. If you should encounter problems you can again
click on Start... Run... regedit.. and click on File..Import... and import
the saved registry you made in the beginning.
