I used navigation view to set up my links. When I go to a page, it shows
"Up" as the caption for one of the buttons. Is there a way to force it to
use the form name instead (as it does by default for all the other buttons).

No, but you can change the name under Tools | Web / Site Settings | Navigation

Yes, I see that I can change the "Parent page" name from Up. Is there a
better name?
Up doesn't tell the user anything. It would be better if there were a way to
leave it at the page name.

Also, can you perhaps suggest an alternative approach to overcome this
issue?

Thanks for your reply.

Most users wouldn't remember from whence they came by name, Up or Back usually covers it.

Maybe you want to use a tree-style Javascript type menu instead.

I don't use FP navigation component or shared borders. Instead I create my own navigation structure
using Text link and the FP Include Page component to insert the navigation into the various pages
within a site.
