Hi everybody,

Here is my problem. I would like the pictures I download from Internet via
Internet Explorer to be stored initially on my desktop instead of the "My
Pictures" folder. But when I try to change the default "My Picutes" path
into another one (My Desktop path for instance), I get an error message from
Internet Explorer saying that it has to close due to an error each time I
try to save a picture. When I put the former "My Pictures" path again, it
works as before. How can I do ?

Thank you,

MALESCOT.

PS: I tried to make these changes via TweakUI AND directly in the registry
at the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders. No joy !

That's where I took my initial information from !! She explains exactly what
I did... But when my desktop is put as the default folder to save
pictures... IE crashes when it comes to save a picture !! I don't know
why...

Desktop and 'My Pictures' are both 'special folders', located through
registry entries and having special treatment. You can't have two such
references to the same place or things get very confused. Rather, do
the initial downloads to desktop (or better some other independent
folder with a shortcut to it *on* the desktop), then move the ones you
want to keep from there into My Pictures

Thank you, I didn't know. Have a good week-end,

MALESCOT.
