How do you get the taskbar to display only the date, instead of the date and the day of the week? I have no idea what this user clicked on, but it is displaying the long form & the taskbar is also is double the height that it should be. I've unlocked it & tried readjusting the height, it won't budge! LOL

This on XP Pro. I went into my control panel,Date & Time. There is not a "change format" option at that point???

Try using and installing Tclock, you can format the time/date as you like

You can always uncheck Show the Clock in Taskbar properties. Actually--it doesn't usually show the date unless you place your mouse over the time. I can't figure out what she did. Check and see if she unchecked "open sub menus when I pause over with mouse" in Taskbar, properties, start menu, customize, advanced.

The clock shows the day of the week when the taskbar is two rows high,
so you need to shrink it to one row. You give the steps yourself in
your post: right-click an empty spot on the taskbar and make sure
there's no checkmark beside "Lock the taskbar". Now grab the upper
edge of the taskbar with the mouse and drag it down until it's only
one row high. Finish by right-clicking and checking "Lock the taskbar"
so it will stay that way.

Open Regional and Language Options, click Start, point to Settings, click
Control Panel, and then double-click Regional and Language Options.
Regional Options tab | Click Customize | Date tab

If you have the task bar double high, then the time, date, and day will
show.

The time, day, and date shows when the taskbar is double high. If your
having probs dragging it back down to single, open a program and minimize
it, then rearrange the quick launch and minimized programs area so they are
next to each other, then see if you're able to drag it back to single row
height.

Control Panel>Date and Time>Change format>Customize button next to English

Except that that is in Regional and Language - Date page. And does not
provide for Day of week.

The taskbar display adds the day of week when you increase it to double
depth and the date (in form set) on triple depth. This seems to me the
wrong way round, but I know of no way to change it and have date on the
double

The task bar is unlocked, but it will not allow me to move it down to one row. This is an older NT machine that we just upgraded to XP Pro. For some reason, it will only allow me to increase the row heighth, instead of taking it down to one row.

A possibility is that the faint hatched handle, right of the Quick
Launch area, has got dragged right so far that it has jumped down to the
lower level. Look for it under the right side of Start, and drag up and
right of the first few icons of QL.
