change picture format

how do i change a pictures format, if i scan it it is
saved as a .tiff file i need to change it to .bmp or .jpg
or even .pcx. is there a program that does that, like a
ripper for pictures instead of music?

I guess you're aware that when you're scanning
you can select a different image format. And
more than likely, you have some image editing
software installed on your computer. Printers,
scanners, digital cameras, etc. typically have
bonus image editing software on the install disk.

Also...you could use MS Paint...you'll find it at:
Start / Programs / Accessories / Paint.

Also, you might like the freeware IrfanView:

Download IrfanView 3.91

(get the plug-ins too)

Open the image in your choice of programs
and go to...File / Save As...choose your format.

thanks john, i could edit it in ms paint or i could use
my canon software after, my scanner is older and i didnt
see where i could change the save on it, it works with xp
as long as i use the office imaging and fax program, so
thats why i cant save it other than tiff. but i'll try
all your choices, but i'm really interested in the
freeware infview, that might be my best choice. thanks.
