I just finished loading everything in my new computer. One thing irks
me and it was probably my fault for not paying attention. The Owners
name is Owner.your.DC3EQB8F38.

How can I change this to just plain OWNER or my name without screwing
up everything?

Thanks for replies

Edit HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner with
Regedit.

Edit HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner with
Regedit.

If I type in regedit and then edit/find
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner I
get nothing in the search.

If I regedit and find Owner.your... I get many finds.

This is my second computer. The first failed with the video right
after I registered with Microsoft and the manufacturer. I took it
back to Best Buy, who determined a bad video card on the mother board
and gave me another new one. I don't recall registering with either
on this one. But I did miss changing the name during the
installation of Media xp.

I assume each of the finds could be changed, but that would be a long
job. I would like to find an easy way.

Vince, Open the run command by clicking Start >> Run and type in:
regedit.exe click [OK] or Hit Enter on your Keyboard.
On the Registry Editor locate the Key Mentioned like this:
[-] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOwner = and change the Name to what you have in Mind then
after finish close the Registry and Reboot the machine.
HTH.
Let us know.

nass, I believe he said, just above, that he had tried it and he
couldn't find the key!

That said, the key is normally there.

Cheers,

I just tried the search to and found the same thing. But then I discovered what you did wrong. Eliminate RegisteredOwner
from your search. Search for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version and when it finds it look
on the right side and you will see a key that says RegisteredOwner . Change it to the name you have in mind then
after you finish close the Registry and Reboot the machine. Hope this helps Abe
