Change Location of Start files

Guest

I have w2k in the computer and had the start "file" specified as C:\Documents
and Settings\"name\start menu. All the favorites, cookies, etc are listed in
the "name" folder. For some reason, the start "file" got changed to
C:\Documents and Setting\Administrator\start menu nothing of the above shows
on the desktop. How can I change it back to where I would like it to be?????
I have been in the 'Start and Taskbar'\advanced\advanced, changed to the
correct start menu, but can not get the change to take place.

What is the start "file" you refer to?

When I go into "Taskbar and Start Menu" /advanced/advanced from Settings, the
address shown is c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu. What I
need is to get the computer to go to C:\Documents and Settings\(name)\Start
Menu. Everything that I have set up such as favorites, the icons on the
Desktop, Outlook Express settings, etc are in those folders and files in the
(name) folder, not in the Administration folder.

Are you logging on as 'administrator' or as 'name'?

Apparently, I am logging in as administrator, though I do not know how I
changed the setting. Since your last reply, I have tried to change back to
'name' but do not know how to do that. I tried "cntl-alt-delete" at start
and that did not give me a login screen.

If I log off as Administrator and log in as 'name' everything comes back to
where it should be. However, if I turn off the computer and then restart, it
again starts up as administrator. How can I make permanent the 'name' log in
and not have to log out as Administrator and then re log in as 'name' again
to get it all set up????

You can run regedit.exe and navigate to;
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
edit the Reg_Sz string values
"DefaultUserName"
and
"DefaultPassword"
to reflect the correct username and password. (note: the password for an
autologon account can not be blank)
