change header and footer autotext date format

Trying to use automatic insert of date and author in a footer. Can do this
using 'insert AutoText' within header and footer toolbar but for some reason
date appears in US format i.e. MM/DD/YY I am in Australia and need DD/MM/YY
format. All region and language settings are set to Australian. If I use
Insertate and Time from tool bar within the main body of text it appears in
correct DD/MM/YY format. Cannot understand why it should be different for
header and footer. Can anybody help?

The button on the toolbar should insert the same format as the Alt+Shift+D
shortcut, which is the format chosen as the default in the Insert | Date and
Time dialog. But you can modify any date field by changing the "date/time
